Pinnacle of German Engineering

I’m a big fan of Germans at the moment. Apart from giving us limitless Autobahns and generous banks, they have also mastered the art of automotive engineering. Porsche, scholars in the institute ot metallic lust, gave me the opportunity to enjoy their finest product yet, the 996 GT2. Although direct thanks must go to David Brown, the car isn’t the kitten the Carerra would like us believe. With 460 BHP/ ft/lb alike, and a hundred kilo’s lighter than the Skyline R34, the GT2 is possibly one of the fastest production cars on the planet. Warp like acceleration and Porsche build quality cemented my perceptions of what I thought was the be all, end all of motoring technica. Rear wheel drive and rear engine placement mean that despite their 315/30 ZR 18 monstrosities on the rear, all it takes is an overly ambitious right foot to end up facing the opposite direction. Triple figure speeds are amassed in a matter of seconds and 100MPH + speeds are fantastic, inspiring confidence and tactility. David Brown, not the best influence in the world.
