Really didn’t think colour would be such a difficult choice with the Gen2 GT3. At first, white looked a suitable choice but echo’s of ‘been there, done that’ played through my mind. How the hell would neighbours see that I’d got a new car? Then I looked at the new Aqua Blue, which is a lovely colour but I think the photos do it huge favours. Then I settled on Red, having seen the Drivers Republic review of said car – it looked stunning. But seeing the car in the flesh proves the amount of post-editing that’s done to make a dull colour look vibrant.
Now, I’m all in a kerfuffle as I’ve seen another option, Riviera Blue (yeah thanks Glenn). It’s a shocker, for sure. But it does hark back to a time where Porsche’s came in all manner of inappropriate colours. What do you guys think? The wife thinks it’s hideous and called it a bubble-gum car.
EDIT – First two pictures directly below are from another source and allegedly a more accurate representation of the colour.(Thanks Alex)

Im facing the same dilemma, White, red and Rivera are my top 3. Still Ive not had a White 911 before so I dont have to rule that out like you. Rivera is a very tempting colour but not sure I have the b*lls to go for it myself!
Some more Rivera pics for you

Thanks – I will add your images to the post for comparison.
The car in your pics don’t look like a true likeness of Riviera Blue.
Adam’s links are a more true portrayal.
Tough call, as you know, these cars can be sensitive to being ‘the correct’ colour, i would poss play safe with white/red…although not seen a black one anywhere yet ???
Have you thought about about Meteor Gray? Looks nice in the movie:

Meteor Gray will also look nice in dull weather conditions. However Riviera Blue or (Guards?) Red are a lot more special. (also in resale value as many more white cars will exist on the market in 2 years time)
I personally wouldn’t go for white, after having owned a white GT3 .. I think.
I’ve always liked Riviera Blue. I’ve only ever seen it in the flesh on a 964RS, 993RS and a 968CS which says something about the its pedigree and although I’ve seen pics of the colour on lesser Porsches they can’t quite get away with it, as if they are trying too hard to be something they are not.
That said though, isn’t the Riviera Blue an exclusive colour? If so that opens your colour choice to an almost infinite number of possibilities.
If you really like red and are prepared to pay the exclusive price why not find a metallic/pearlescent red that resembles Guards and have it painted in that colour. Off the top of my head two spring to mind, Misano Red (Audi) or Melbourne Red (BMW).
Also WTF is going on with the standard colours offered on the configurator. I mean of the five special colours on offer on GT Silver is the only one worth a punt and you would have to be pretty “special” yourself to choose one of the other colours on offer.
OK read post coming up about red – I’ve changed my mind again. Saw a Hyundai coupe in that blue today and it really put me off!
I think that blue would need some orange stripes or something along those lines to look good. I could see that color on a GT3 RS with orange livery looking good but I’m not sure I could rock it off the track.
Red is a fantastic color but I’ve played it out a bit with my last three cars being that color. We had a red 997 GT3 show up to our last Lotus drive and it was stunning.
Wow, check out the latest full review on sport auto! 35 pics in blue plus 10mins of video!
