Over a year since we paid a visit to the UK road equivalent of the ‘Ring. With it’s long, open, sweeping bends, irresistible straights and the odd sharp irregularity that is ready to punish, you’re always exhausted by the end of the 20 mile run. New wheels on the R34 don’t make things any easier, with tramlining an obvious issue now, both hands need to be firmly planted to the wheel and you can forget about answering that mobile.
Some great areas of interest on the way, including a historic school and the infamous railroad crossing which heralds the start of the crystal clear 2 km straight, the B660 is one of the nicest roads within sane travelling distance. But beware, it’s also a terrifying drive. We drove past the scene of a serious accident we were involved in and I for one felt a chill down my spine as we recognised the skid marks that wrecked a similar day out last year.
