I made a mistake – I went to see the Alpina

I made a mistake – I went to see the Alpina

I love photographic memoirs of my cars. I have tens of thousands of photos of my cars, but I can never get close to the artistry of a professional photographer. Stephen Hall, from www.stevehallphotography.net, is a friend who has done a number of jobs for me in the past. He did an awesome job with our three GT3s back in 2007 and also the 550 shoot back in 2004 (jesus 10 years ago!). I called him up recently and he’s mentioned the possibility of being featured in a magazine. Given the car’s on sale, I […]

1987 BMW E30 Alpina C2 2.7 for sale

1987 BMW E30 Alpina C2 2.7 for sale

Oh boy this is hard. I’ve just had the car go through its final stages of restoration. It’s had absolutely everything done now and needs no work at all and at no expense spared. It’s currently sitting at CG Performance and is looking as good as the day it left the factory. I bought the car back in 2007 from a fellow in Scotland. Driving it back down, it was obvious the car wasn’t as good as he’d made it out to be. Arriving a while later in London, I decided to start a project […]

E30 Alpina goes in for work – fourth time lucky!

E30 Alpina goes in for work – fourth time lucky!

How many times can I go through with this? I’ve just dropped off my E30, C2 2.7 Alpina to a workshop of a friend to have the work completed hopefully, for good this time I hope. It’s now had 3 restoration attempts, each time failing because of general trade incompetencies. My last repossession of the car was quite public and it’s been nearly a year since then. The car has a whole host of minor issues, and a fully compiled list has been delivered together with the car. Let’s see how I feel after this. […]

Alpina C2 2.7 back in my care, for now

What is it about an old car like this that makes you forget about its countless foibles, allowing you to convert a tiresome, 100 mile drive in a troublesome car into a delightfully vivid trip down memory lane? It’s like Christmas dinner. Nothing overtly out of the ordinary, but then this simplicity is all it takes to revisit the vaults of childhood memories. I was 16 years old when my parents went away on holiday in 1989 leaving me to the care of the home. And the brand new BMW E30 318i. I could claim […]

Alpina Restoration Complete

Alpina Restoration Complete

So a year has passed and not much has really changed. LOL seriously. A fuck load has changed, but there’s no car news. I’ve been driving around in a Mini Cooper S for about a year now and it’s actually quite a good car. It was nearly £30k new (not what I paid) so it’s impressively loaded. If anyone wants to know more about the roller skate let me know and I’ll throw some words together. The Alpina is pretty much ready. Nearly. As you may know I collected the car from my nightmare garage […]

What’s up dawg?

By way of a semi apology, I try to justify my absence with a digest of the past three weeks.

Henry’s new M3 chases the bloodline

Having mastered the M3 CSL for the extended period he owned it, opting for a factory new E92 M3 was proof of Henrys avoidance of expected conventionalism. Excellent at doing the GT thing and equally competent on circuit. A couple of cheeky photos with the C2 Alpina showed a comical trace of the 3 series bloodline that went back over 22 years.

Oh forgot about the C2..!

In my chaotic deliberations of the last year, I’ve ommitted to share with the world wide intraweb some of the more interesting acquisitions I’ve made of late, specifically this Alpina C2 2.7. I’ve been looking for an E30 BMW (80’s 3 series BMW) for a couple of years now and have just been watching them with that kind of passive interest someone has for something they feel they’d never really get in the real world. However, whilst going through the Piston Heads classifieds, I happened upon this almighty Gem of a car. This model is […]

E30’s 4eva

Met up with Dave today to see his M3 and compare with both our cars. Surprisingly chalk and cheese cars, both with strong merits and characteristics. Some pictures:
